Starting Over

Starting Over

Welcome to my first blog post, "Living with Zen." Actually,

this is my second time to the rodeo as my previous site went POOF out into cyberspace. Seventeen years of stories and pictures are all floating out in the black abyss. I couldn't believe everything was gone like a vaper when it first happened. Seventeen years is a long time to chronicle. I started "Living with Zen" as a venue for finding balance and harmony in my life and found that it inspired others positively. I felt my work was unfinished, so starting over seemed the only thing I could do.

Believe it or not, not only did I lose my blog, but I recently lost both my FaceBook and Instagram accounts.  This is truly a fresh start. It's just like life. Each day is a "do-over," and we get to write a new chapter on our pages of life.

I have been in transition for the past three years, as I have shared with many who are going through their transition. For some, the transition could be quick, with a finite time that things have to be in place; for others, it could be on an uncertain timeline where you can linger at each step. For myself and those like me, our transition will come in stages. Some of the stages have definite beginnings, middles, and ends.

I share that my most significant transition is my son, Maui, who is a rising senior. I started blogging; he

was just born, and we are looking at colleges now. Before having Maui, I traveled overseas to work with jewelry and gemstone factories and pearl farms. I traveled quarterly and domestically monthly.  When he came, the world changed, and I was an all-in-all-done mommy who also happened to run a corporation. Parenting is different as your child grows, and I have transitioned with that through the years, but nothing has prepared me for the change yet to come. So, I will be starting over.

It would be overwhelming to think about next June when he graduates. So let's prepare step by step like any other goal you've achieved in life, and by the time that it comes, you will not only have beautiful memories along the way but also be prepared for the next step, whatever that means to you. I look forward to sharing with you and hope you'll join me on this journey for the moment of starting over and the quest of "Living with Zen."
